New Polyurea Coating Adheres Well to Concrete

Coatings manufacturer Chemline, Inc. is offering Chemline ARC, which adheres well to concrete with the use of a primer and meets leading industry standards for potable water.

The product is a fast-set, spray-applied, two-component polyurea that contains 100-percent solids and zero volatile organic compounds (VOCs), according to the St. Louis, Missouri-based manufacturer.

Features of the Polyurea

It is a pure polyurea, meaning that it yields better chemical resistance and handles a wider range of temperature fluctuations. It also offers superior corrosion protection, according to the company.

With a 12-second gel time, it provides rapid turn around and reduces labor costs. The product must be applied using a high-pressure, heated plural component pump.

Physical properties include a tensile strength of 3,850 psi (26.5 MPa) and hardness of Shore 52 D.

Typical Coating Applications

Typical applications for the polyurea coating include secondary containment for oil and gas, wastewater basins, parking garages, foundations, and water ponds.

The product is widely used in both the construction and contractor markets due to its strong physical properties and resistance to moisture.
