Kohl Marketing of Roswell, Georgia has been named Distributor of the Year for 2014/2015 by Orion Engineered Carbons. Based near Atlanta, Kohl Marketing is a distributor of specialty chemicals, including Specialty Carbon Black, throughout the Southeast.

Henry Brooks, Orion’s Vice President, Specialty Blacks, Americas, said Kohl was recognized by Orion this year for outstanding performance in generating new business, increasing sales and growth with key accounts.  He detailed what it takes to win Distributor of the Year.

“We look for a company that aligns with our goals of growing premium product sales, overall market share, the number of accounts, and broadening our reach, along with effective communication,” he said. “While all of our distributors satisfied these criteria, are great partners and did a superb job this year, we felt Kohl earned the award.”

“We gained several new accounts in strategic industries for Orion: polymers, printing inks, coatings and color concentrates," said Kohl Marketing President Dale Baker. “In addition, Kohl Marketing improved our communication and reporting to Orion by going beyond simply conveying sales data to forecasting and budgeting to help Orion run its business.”

Winning the award, he said, demonstrated “our depth and breadth with one of our largest principals.  Kohl Marketing customers get the best of both companies: our expertise in logistics combined with Orion’s leadership on the technical aspects of Specialty Carbon Black.”

Kohl Marketing received the Distributor of the Year Award at Orion’s recent distributor training meeting in Belpre, Ohio, the site of Orion’s principal North American Specialty Carbon Black production facility and its Innovation Laboratory.  In addition to touring the plant and the laboratory, two dozen distributor representatives heard presentations on the market for and technical aspects and applications of Specialty Carbon Black for adhesives and sealants; coatings; polymers; printing inks; and special applications such as rotational moldings.
