PPG Appoints Trio to New Executive Roles

Earlier this month, global paints and coatings manufacturer PPG (Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA) announced multiple leadership appointments that are scheduled to take effect on March 1, 2020.

Chancey Hagerty will assume the role of vice president (VP) of the company’s global automatic refinish coatings unit. Since beginning his PPG career in 1996, Hagerty has assumed positions of increasing responsibility within the company’s industrial and automotive original equipment manufacturing (OEM) coatings units. After a successful stint as general manager of industrial coatings for Europe, Middle East, and Africa, Hagerty was elevated to his current role as VP of PPG’s global industrial coatings business unit in January 2019. He will succeed current global automotive refinish VP Gary Danowski, who is expected to retire on March 1.

Kevin Braun, currently the VP of industrial coatings for the Americas, was named the new VP of the global industrial coatings unit. Braun has been with the company since 1991 and has held several commercial roles in industrial coatings, fiber glass and architectural coatings in the U.S., as well as a leadership role in the silica products and architectural coatings units in Australia and New Zealand.

Andrew Carroll will leave his current position as global technical director for industrial coatings to become VP of industrial coatings, where he will report to Braun. Carroll has been with PPG since 1991 and over the past three decades has served as director for the automotive refinish and industrial coatings businesses. In addition, he has taken on various commercial and technical roles within the automotive OEM coatings and refinish business units.

Along with their new roles, Hagerty and Braun will also be members of PPG’s Operating Committee, while Carroll will become an officer of PPG.

As for the outgoing Danowski, he joined PPG in 1982 as a production engineer. Over his nearly four-decade career, Danowski has assumed various leadership positions both in the U.S. and abroad. He was named to his current role in July 2018. According to Michael H. McGarry, PPG chairman and chief executive officer, “Gary has been the embodiment of a PPG leader throughout his 38-year career—a true team player who rose to any challenge.”

“We thank Gary for his many years of tremendous service, and congratulate Chancey, Kevin and Andrew on their key leadership positions,” adds McGarry. “We are pleased to have a talented group of leaders with broad, proven experience, which provides continuity in driving our global business strategies and delivering shareholder value.”
