Dwight G. Weldon, PCS has over 35 years of experience in the paint and coatings industry and is an expert in the field of failure analysis, having worked on well over a thousand projects. He received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan and a Master of Science in Chemistry from Michigan Technological University. 

Dwight started his career in the automotive coatings industry before becoming laboratory director for a consulting company specializing in testing and failure analysis of coatings. He was most recently the owner and president of Weldon Laboratories, an independent paint testing laboratory devoted exclusively to the physical testing, analytical testing, and failure analysis of paints and coatings. He has a wide range of experience working with several different industries such as transportation, civil, rail, marine, aerospace, commercial & residential construction, pipeline, tanks & vessels, power generation and other various industry markets.

Dwight is the author of “Failure Analysis of Paints and Coatings”. He has an extensive list of additional published works in industry magazines such as the Journal of Coatings Technology, Journal of Protective Coatings & Linings, and American Painting Contractor.

Dwight will be providing consulting services and will be based out of the Grand Rapids, Michigan GPI Labs office.
