PPG marks 20th Anniversary of San Juan Del Río, Mexico, Facility

PPG  announced the 20th anniversary celebration of its San Juan del Río facility in Mexico, which produces paint and coatings for the automotive, aerospace, packaging, industrial and other sectors throughout the country and Latin America.

Opened on June 11, 1999, the San Juan del Río facility currently employs more than 700 people directly and supports more than 300 indirect jobs in the state of Querétaro. It produces liquid and powder paint, pretreatment coatings, resins and pastes. The site includes a number of development labs and application cabins that hold several certifications, including ISO 9001, ISO 14000 and IATF 16949. Local certifications include Clean Industry, Socially Responsible Industry and Integral Responsibility.

The facility also features an eco-friendly design, with natural light and smart illumination systems to reduce energy usage and a recycling process that minimizes water usage and discharge.

“The San Juan del Río facility is a strategic location for PPG, producing the advanced coatings required by our customers in Mexico and Latin America,” said Adriana Macouzet, PPG vice president, Latin America. “Looking ahead, we remain committed to working closely with our customer to continue developing the technologies and innovations they need to meet their business and sustainability goals.”

The facility marked its two decades by unveiling a commemorative plaque, recognizing employee accomplishments and more. Special guests joining Macouzet at the celebration included Antonio Pérez Cabrera, assistant secretary of economic development, Querétaro, and Erick Juárez Luna, alderman, San Juan del Río.

The San Juan del Río facility also highlighted its two decades of community engagement. In recent years, its employee volunteers have completed numerous COLORFUL COMMUNITIES® projects to protect and beautify community assets such as schools, parks and health care facilities.
