Gas detection products and services provider Apollo Safety, Inc. recently introduced the availability of enhanced Man Down/Lone Worker detection devices from Industrial Scientific.
With comprehensive gas/toxic leak prevention and detection products and services, Apollo Safety’s services include installation, regular maintenance, and system monitoring to ensure all systems are continually in optimal working order.
“Many companies will employ check-in procedures to monitor the wellbeing of the lone or remote worker,” said John V. Carvalho III, Apollo Safety’s founder and president. “That’s great, but when a lone or remote worker goes down, response time is critical, and a check-in procedure may not always be fast enough. With the devices available through our relationship with Industrial Scientific, we can better prepare companies and workers for a remote worker injury.”
How the New Devices Work
The devices deploy communication and precise employee positioning technologies for every scenario — indoors, outdoors, and remote locations. The technology will alert responders and direct them in real-time to a precise outdoor location or, if indoors, to the exact floor and room where an employee is located.
“Through this monitoring technology, when a lone worker falls and does not get back up right away, we can set up the system to trigger an audible, visual, and vibration alarm back to out to a monitoring station, to a cell through text or email notifications, or directly to emergency services,” Carvalho said.
The devices can be customized to include features such as automated lone worker monitoring, including man-down (no-motion) detection; peer-to-peer wireless communication; panic alarm; live cloud-hosted web software for configuration and emergency response management; a live gas detection compliance dashboard; second-generation data analytics; and live monitoring and two-way communication with Industrial Scientific’s in-house Safety Operations Center.
Additional Device Features
The Man Down/Lone Worker technology also features false fall detection, enabling the lone worker to cancel the pending alert before it is communicated to monitoring personnel. A quick press of the check-in button returns the device to normal operation.
For current customers who employ the company’s gas detection systems, Apollo Safety notes that the new devices and technology can be incorporated into the current system.
On the whole, Apollo Safety provides portable, stationary, and wireless gas detection systems, along with sales and support for most major brands of gas detection device manufacturers. The company also offers on-site support with factory-trained technicians for portable and stationary gas detection systems, as well as a state-of-the-art in-house service center.
