Annual Florida Roofing Show Opens for Contractors

The Florida Roofing and Sheet Metal Contractors Association’s (FRSA) 97th Annual Convention, held in conjunction with the the Florida Roofing & Sheet Metal Expo, takes place from Wednesday through Friday at the Gaylord Palms Resort & Convention Center in Kissimmee, Florida.

In 2018, more than 3,000 roofing and sheet metal contractors, building officials, architects and industry suppliers attended the regional show, along with over 220 exhibiting companies.

The 2019 FRSA event includes educational seminars, an exhibit hall, and other activities such as a fishing tournament, golf tournament, welcome reception, business luncheon, kids’ program, and an awards presentation dinner.

Educational Seminars

The FRSA event includes 18 separate seminars, which begin Wednesday morning and last until midday Friday. According to event organizers, FRSA offers contractors “the most informative and up-to-date continuing education seminars” on topics affecting their business

Seminars of note for coatings contractors may include “Seminar #2: Update on OSHA’s Silica Rules for the Roofing Industry” (11:00 a.m to 12:00 p.m., Wednesday); “Seminar #8: OSHA Updates for the Construction Industry” (8:10 a.m. to 9:10 a.m., Thursday); “Seminar #16: Update on OSHA’s Silica Rules for the Roofing Industry” (8:10 a.m. to 9:10 a.m., Friday); and “Seminar #17: OSHA Updates for the Construction Industry” (9:20 a.m. to 10:20 a.m., Friday).

In all, FRSA offers a total of 21 hours of continuing education credit during the 2019 convention, with all courses designed specifically for contractors. According to FRSA, the goal is to provide contractors with all the educational tools needed to make a contractor’s business successful.

2019 Expo Features

The Expo is open from 11:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, and from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Friday. The exhibit hall is scheduled to host more than 220 exhibiting companies to showcase the latest products and services available to roofing and sheet metal contractors.

The Expo is free to attend for all roofing professionals, and event organizers describe it as the largest regional show of its kind in the United States.
