Greenbuild Conference, Expo Targets Sustainability

The Greenbuild International Conference and Expo opens Wednesday, November 14, and continues through Friday, November 16, at McCormick Place in Chicago, Illinois.

Greenbuild is the world’s largest conference and expo dedicated to green building, offering a face-to-face experience for sustainability to professionals in architecture, construction, engineering, planning, and interior design.

Education Track Highlights

The conference features more than 200 education sessions, tours, workshops, summits, and expo hall educational activities across 16 education tracks. These tracks include building a green economy; smart and sustainable design; materials; greening residential; natural considerations in sustainable design; and many more.

The opening plenary session, held from 8:30 to 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday in the Skyline Ballroom, features human rights lawyer and professor Amal Clooney. Later that same day, a Leadership Awards Reception from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) is slated from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Willis Tower. The annual awards event recognizes outstanding individuals and organizations committed to the advancement of green building design, construction, and operations.

Meanwhile, the closing plenary is led by Carmen Yulín Cruz, the mayor of San Juan, Puerto Rico. The closing plenary is slated for 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Friday, also in the Skyline Ballroom. Since Hurricane Maria hit Puerto Rico in September 2017, Cruz has become a leading voice in search of enhanced infrastructure.
