Industrial Finishes & Systems, Inc. is proud to celebrate the company’s 60th year. Officially founded in Eugene, Oregon, in 1958, Industrial Finishes & Systems, Inc. has grown into a leading distributor of coatings, adhesives, abrasives, and supplies.
During 1956-1957, Stuart Barr worked as a delivery driver for the Autobody and Paint Supply Company. On April 1, 1958, Barr and a business partner decided to go into business together and purchased the company. At that time, the company was a wholesale distributor of auto body supplies with sales of $165,000 per year from one location and three employees.
In 1967, Barr bought out his partner and became the sole owner of what is now Industrial Finishes & Systems, Inc.
From that humble start, Industrial Finishes & Systems, Inc. has expanded to 35 locations serving customers nationwide. Recently, the company expanded into California, Idaho, and Georgia.
The company’s primary markets include automotive collision repair and OEM, recreation vehicle production, marine, aerospace, military, and wood products. Over 350 Industrial Finishes & Systems employees provide exceptional service to a wide range of customers.
Industrial Finishes & Systems, Inc. recently celebrated 60 years in business with a dinner and reception in Eugene. To commemorate the anniversary, Barr family members, Industrial Finishes employees, and many friends of the company conspired to rebuild the first car that Stuart Barr owned – 1927 Ford Tudor Custom Hot Rod. The car was presented to Barr as part of the 60th Celebration Dinner.
