Kemper System America, Inc. will feature Wall Guardian® FW-100A, one of the most cost-effective liquid-applied air barriers available, and new cost-effective Roof Guardian® options for liquid-applied Cool Roofs, roof recovery and other projects at ABX 2017, Nov. 8-10 in Boston, booth #1090.
The two lines expand the Kemper System portfolio of Building Envelope solutions and are among those acquired from STS Coatings in December 2016. Another STS product to be featured is GreatSeal® PE-150 multi-purpose construction sealant which offers high-performance and can be applied in cold temperatures and even on damp surfaces.
Wall Guardian® FW-100A fibered acrylic air barrier also acts as a water/weather barrier, and vapor retarder to prevent the moisture build-up that can lead to mildew and mold. “Wall Guardian delivers superior performance and can also be a cost-saving alternative to self-adhered sheet membranes which typically require larger crews,” said Richard Doornink, President and Managing Director of Kemper System America, Inc.
The fibered coating can be applied by heavy-duty sprayer, roller or brush when temperatures are 5oC (40oF) and rising. Wall Guardian® FW-100A meets IECC 2015 standards, and exceeds ASTM E2357 (Standard Test Method for Determining Air Leakage of Air Barrier Assemblies) by a factor of 100. Air leakage rate is < 0.0022 L/(s • m2) @ 75 Pa [0.0004 cfm /ft2 @ 1.57 psf] at 40 wet mils.
New ‘Cool Roof’ Options
Roof Guardian elastomer-based coating options can cost-effectively transform metal, BUR, modified bitumen, and aged single-ply roofs into reflective Cool Roofs that can reduce building energy requirements. Roof Guardian RG-170 is a white finish coat with a solar reflectance index (SRI) of 109. Roof Guardian RG-180 is a fibered white coating (SRI 108) that achieves Class A fire rating. Both are ENERGY STAR® and CRRC rated. The waterproofing products are formulated using an acrylic polymer base for enhanced adhesion and durability, and both resist cracking and peeling.
Roof Guardian products are also useful for gutterways, repairs and other projects, and can be quickly applied with a commercial-grade sprayer, roller or brush. They complement Kemperol® cold liquid-applied Cool Roof membrane systems which are fully reinforced for long-term performance. This includes the odor-free Kemperol Reflect 2K FR (SRI 110), and the fast-curing Kemperol AC Speed FR (SRI 108), a PMMA which allows one-day application. Both achieve Class A fire rating.
