Building and specialty adhesive products manufacturer IPS Corp. has acquired the Metacrylics roof coatings group, based in Gilroy, California.

The acquisition is in support of IPS’ growth strategy within the roofing industry, according to the company. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Known for Roof Flashing Products

IPS says its roofing products business is best known for its roof flashing products for vent pipes, which are manufactured in Tennessee and sold nationally through wholesale roofing distribution and building products retailers.

 “We are extremely excited to enter the fast growth cool roof coatings market with the exceptional products and service proposition provided by Metacrylics,” said Gary Rosenfield, vice president and general manager of IPS’ roofing products division.

“With the resources of IPS in support of this business, we plan to rapidly build on the previous success and outstanding reputation of Metacrylics,” he added. “I am looking forward to working with this very talented Metacrylics team to help them continue in that effort.”

Acrylic, Silicone Products

Metacrylics is an established manufacturer of cool roof coatings, and the company offers both acrylic and silicone varieties of its products. The group has a long history of installations in many regions of the United States.

Most recently, the company’s “Extreme Performance” acrylic product was recognized as a leader in the commercial roofing market due to its strong adhesion, ease of installation, higher solar reflectivity rating, and ability to resist debris over time.
