Castagra Launches New Foam Product Following Successful Trials

Like the liquid product, Ecodur 201 MF also demonstrates exceptional cold weather application performance in sub-zero temperatures which are often a severe limiting factor for conventional epoxy coatings.

A unique plasticized gypsum coating, widely used to protect frac tanks, has now been launched as a new foam product following its successful and extensive trial use in various applications, including a mountain water flume.

Ecodur 201 MF (Manual Foam) comes in 5-gallon pails and is anticipated to be put into a multiplicity of applications because it not only offers major insulation and filler roles (ability to expand up to 500%), but also molecularly bonds to cellulosic materials, most especially wood.

Castagra Products CEO, Peter Roosen, “We have known for some time that its unique chemistry, which makes it VOC-free and BPA-free, would lend itself to a foam-able product, but it was only after highly targeted industrial trial use that we felt its outstanding performance results confirmed its potential as a new product.

“This is a billion dollar market opportunity, particularly in the water industry where its NSF-61 potable water certification and Class A fire retardant rating, puts it well beyond the competition. It bonds completely with fibre matting, making an excellent candidate for producing floating mats to protect reservoirs for instance.”

Roosen said it also performs similarly to conventional foams, but exceeds them where environmental and health factors are considered.

“Not giving off volatile organic compounds and not requiring the use of solvents either in content, application or clean-up, is a major consideration these days as health agencies and governments globally crack down on harmful emissions and solvents.”

“Like the liquid product, Ecodur 201 MF also demonstrates exceptional cold weather application performance in sub-zero temperatures which are often a severe limiting factor for conventional epoxy coatings. Cold weather and chemical resistance performance has helped Castagra differentiate itself in the fracking marketplace,” continued Roosen.

The ‘Green Coatings’ industry is globally worth currently in excess of $60 billion. It is forecast to rise to $85 billion by 2018.

“With over 20 years experience in the green coatings industry, we were pioneering a green product long before it became even recognized as such. It’s been a long road, but there has never been a better time to launch another green coating as now with the global market going ballistic,” concluded Roosen.

Castagra Products, Inc., is a leader in the multi-billion dollar premium eco coatings industry with its non-toxic, VOC-free, solvent-free, plasticized gypsum coatings that have pioneered the industry and offer outstanding versatility and protection qualities particularly in the fracking industry with its unique challenges for protecting steel containers and pipes. The company has toll production operations in Texas.
